A state in Northeast India arranged south of the eastern Himalayas along the Brahmaputra and Barak River valleys. Assam covers a region of 78,438 km2 (30,285 sq mi). The state is flanked by Bhutan and the territory of Arunachal Pradesh toward the north; Nagaland and Manipur toward the east; Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh toward the south; and West Bengal toward the west by means of the Siliguri Corridor, a 22 kilometers (14 mi) segment of land which interfaces the state to whatever remains of India. Assam is known for Assam tea and Assam silk.
As of June 2016, the state has 33 managerial locales. On 15 August 2015, five new areas were shaped notwithstanding previous 27 regions. The five new areas are Biswanath (cut out of Sonitpur), Charaideo (of Sivasagar), Hojai (of Nagaon), South Salmara-Mankachar (of Dhubri) and West Karbi Anglong (of Karbi Anglong). Sarothi Start Up fund Assam is a financial assistance scheme for entrepreneurs which is being run by the state government of Assam.
Under the scheme, the government is providing an insurance coverage of up to Rs. 2 lakh per year to each family of the state.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, all 97 Urban Local Bodies of Assam would be covered to provide pucca houses to all by the year 2022.
Employees are being provided home loans at subsidized interest rates.
The “Zero Interest Crop Loan Scheme” will be launched soon for the farmers under which they can avail a crop loan of up to Rs. 1 Lakh at 0% interest rates.
